Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team in an Elementary self-contained classroom (6.5 hrs/day). In this role, you will support students with diverse learning needs within a classroom setting. You will work closely with the lead teacher to create a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes the academic and social growth of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Provide support for students with varying disabilities, helping them engage with the curriculum.
- Facilitate daily activities and routines, ensuring a safe and structured environment.
- Opportunities to collaborate with therapists and other specialists to support student needs.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Experience working with children with special needs, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to student success.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of behavioral management techniques is a plus.
- Have a Teaching Assistant Certificate or be willing to obtain one.
