School Counselor - 1.0 FTE, Probationary
O'Rourke Middle School
The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a qualified and student-centered School Counselor to join the team at O'Rourke Middle School. This is a full-time, probationary position beginning with the 2026–2027 school year.
The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive school counseling program that supports the academic, social-emotional, and career development needs of middle school students.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling services to students.
- Assist students with academic planning, goal setting, and personal development.
- Support students' social-emotional well-being and help address barriers to learning.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to promote student success.
- Participate in student support teams, Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, and other school-based initiatives as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation.
- Implement and support the district's comprehensive school counseling program in accordance with New York State regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid New York State School Counselor certification required.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and middle school counseling practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff.
