The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking reliable, friendly, and team-oriented individuals to join our Food Service Department. These part-time, school-year positions play an important role in providing healthy meals and creating a positive dining experience for our students each day.
Food Service Workers assist with the preparation and serving of meals, maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area, and support the daily operations of the school cafeteria. Work is performed under the direct supervision of food service supervisory staff.
Typical Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals
- Heat and portion pre-cooked foods
- Prepare meal trays and assist with food setup
- Wash dishes by hand or machine
- Clean kitchen equipment, dining areas, tables, chairs, and trays
- Clean and prepare vegetables and other food items
- Set up and replenish dining areas as needed
- Maintain clean dish, utensil, and linen storage areas
- Perform related food service and sanitation duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Prior food service experience is helpful but not required
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Working knowledge of food service practices and cleaning methods is preferred
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
