The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented individual to serve as a Food Service Worker/Porter at the High School. This full-day, school-year position is essential to the daily operation of our cafeteria, supporting meal preparation, food service, sanitation, and kitchen organization in a fast-paced environment.
Working under the supervision of Food Service leadership, the successful candidate will assist with meal service while ensuring the kitchen, equipment, and work areas remain clean, organized, and ready for daily operations.
Typical Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch
- Set up serving lines and replenish food and supplies as needed
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, trays, and utensils by hand or machine
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations, floors, and storage areas
- Remove trash and recycling and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen
- Receive, move, and properly store food deliveries and supplies
- Assist with stocking and organizing food, paper products, and cleaning supplies
- Support food preparation as directed
- Perform other related food service and porter duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Prior food service or custodial experience is helpful but not required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness and sanitation
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a driver abstract
- Must be willing to transport food/supplies to other BHBL schools
- Must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly, load/unload district vehicles and organize and stock coolers and freezers
