Job Posting: Tier III Teaching Assistant

Position Summary
The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and student-centered Tier III Teaching Assistant to support students in a self-contained classroom setting at BHBL High School. This position plays a vital role in providing instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with diverse learning needs in a structured, supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instructional support to students individually and in small groups under the direction of a certified teacher
- Assist with implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
- Assist with classroom organization, materials preparation, and daily routines
- Support students with personal care and mobility needs as required
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and other non-instructional times as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- NYS Teaching Assistant Level III Certification (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to student success
Schedule & Compensation
- Hours: 6.5 hours per day
- Salary/Benefits: Step 1 ($21.15/hr) - Step 3 ($22.80/hr)
