Executive Assistant to the Principal

Location: Stevens Elementary School
Anticipated Dates: March 20, 2026 — May 31, 2026

Position Overview

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Executive Assistant to the Principal to support the daily operations of the school. This position exists in a school district and involves the responsibility for providing administrative support for the building principal and assisting with the oversight of the school day-to-day operations.  Supervision is received by the Principal with wide leeway given for independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work.  Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Coordinates all lunchroom operations and routines;
  • Supervises lunchroom and recess processes;
  • Oversees bus procedures for student arrival and dismissal;
  • Contacts parents for routine student discipline issues;
  • Provides administrative support for the 504 coordinator;
  • Gives morning announcements as needed;
  • Coordinates school assemblies and special events;
  • Assists with the oversight of after-school activities and tutoring;
  • Serves as a liaison between PTA and the school for arts/education initiatives;
  • Coordinates materials and supply orders throughout the year;
  • Assists with the organization and implementation of the NYS testing program;
  • Assists with the supervision of students at winter and spring concerts;
  • Does related work as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:  Thorough knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; thorough knowledge of business arithmetic and English; thorough knowledge of the organization, functions, laws, policies and regulations of the school district; ability to handle office detail independently, including composition of important letters and memorandum; ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions; ability to operate a microcomputer; ability to interact in a professional manner with the public regarding various concerns; ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at all levels of the school building; personal integrity necessary to maintain confidentiality pertaining to office matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(A) Graduation with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Human Services or a related field; OR

(B) Graduation with an associate’s degree in Business Administration, Education or a related field and two (2) years of clerical experience in a school district; or

(C) Graduation with a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience as defined by the limits of (B) above.
