Special Education Teacher — 1.0 FTE, Probationary
Location: Stevens Elementary School
The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher to join our team at Stevens Elementary School. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), probationary position for a New York State–certified educator who is passionate about supporting the success of all learners.
The ideal candidate will inspire and engage students with disabilities, foster a love of learning, and collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive, inclusive, and enriching educational environment.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Implementing and creating IEPs (Individual Education Programs)
- Assessing students’ strengths, needs, and abilities to inform instruction
- Developing and implementing lesson plans aligned to individual learning goals
- Collaborating with general education teachers, social workers, counselors, psychologists, and other professionals to support student achievement
- Coordinating paraprofessional staff in implementing instructional and behavioral support plans
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Communicating regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and needs
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation
- Participating in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in special education
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (required)
- Valid New York State Special Education Teaching Certification
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment
