Teaching Assistant – Speech Support
Position Summary:
The Teaching Assistant will support students in a high school setting who receive speech and language services. The TA will work under the direction of the classroom teacher and/or speech-language pathologist to provide instructional and student support throughout the school day.
Responsibilities:
- Assist students with speech, language, communication, and related classroom activities.
- Reinforce strategies and skills introduced by the speech-language pathologist and instructional staff.
- Provide individual or small-group support as directed.
- Encourage student participation, communication, and independence.
- Assist with classroom routines, organization, and transitions.
- Maintain a supportive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate observations and relevant student information to appropriate school staff.
- Perform other duties related to student support as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with high school students is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, speech-language professionals, and other school staff.
- Strong communication, patience, flexibility, and professionalism.
- Appropriate qualifications/certifications as required by the school district.
Schedule:
6.5 hours per day, based on the school district's daily schedule.
Assignment Dates:
For the 2026–2027 school year, beginning and ending in accordance with the district's school calendar.
