Special Education Teacher- High School


The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake CSD is seeking a highly motivated High School-Special Class Reading and English Teacher. 1.0 Probationary

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake CSD is seeking a special education teacher to provide specially designed reading instruction to students in grades 9-12. This assignment includes teaching special English class to students to ultimately prepare them for the English Regents exam. Teachers with experience with the Read 180 Program is preferred.

Special Education Teacher- Elementary

The Burnt Hills Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a NYS certified Special Education Teacher at Pashley Elementary School. We are seeking a special education consultant teacher for students in the general education setting, as well as providing special class instruction in ELA and/or Math as needed.  The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who can inspire and engage students and will foster the love of learning for students with disabilities. 

Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Assessing students' strengths, needs, and abilities.

  2. Developing lesson plans that meet the needs of individual students.

  3. Working with a team of professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and social workers to support student learning.

  4. Providing specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of each student.

  5. Collaborating with regular education teachers to ensure students are included in general education classes.

  6. Coordination of instructional and behavioral plan implementation by paraprofessional staff.

  7. Monitoring students' progress and making modifications to their educational plans as needed.

  8. Communicating with families in a culturally responsive manner to keep them informed about their child's progress and needs.

  9. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records.

  10. Participating in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.

The successful candidate will have a degree in special education, a valid NYS teaching certification, and experience working with students with disabilities. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills are also essential.

Elementary Teacher (Grade 5)

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake CSD is seeking a highly motivated Special Education Teacher for our High School 12:1:1 Self-Contained Transitions Program

This position includes providing primary instruction in English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science and career development skills. The program focus is on developing basic skills in academic, social, communication and functional domains. Students are provided opportunities for integration into the community. Experience teaching in a similar program and administration of the NYSSA is preferred.
