Description:

Typical Work Activities:

• Assists teachers in the implementation of instructional programs
• Works with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning concepts
• Supports students with academic, behavioral, and/or social-emotional needs
• Helps maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
• Supervises students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, and recess as assigned
• Assists with classroom preparation, organization, and clerical tasks
• Performs related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Position Summary

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and student-centered Tier III Teaching Assistant to support students in a self-contained classroom setting at BHBL High School. This position plays a vital role in providing instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with diverse learning needs in a structured, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional support to students individually and in small groups under the direction of a certified teacher
• Assist with implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
• Assist with classroom organization, materials preparation, and daily routines
• Support students with personal care and mobility needs as required
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and other non-instructional times as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• NYS Teaching Assistant Level III Certification (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to student success

Schedule & Compensation

• Hours: 6.5 hours per day
• Salary/Benefits: Step 1 ($21.15/hr) - Step 3 ($22.80/hr)
