The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and dependable Per Diem Driver Education Instructor to join our Driver Education Program. This per diem position provides both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training to high school students, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become safe, responsible drivers.

The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, committed to student safety, and dedicated to creating a positive learning environment while preparing students to become responsible licensed drivers.

Position Responsibilities

Throughout each semester, students receive:

• 24 hours of classroom instruction

• 18 hours of in-car observation

• 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction

The Per Diem Driver Education Instructor will:

• Teach New York State Driver Education curriculum in accordance with NYS DMV and NYS Education Department requirements.
• Instruct students on traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and safe vehicle operation.
• Provide engaging classroom lessons using effective instructional strategies, visual aids, and technology.
• Deliver behind-the-wheel instruction while ensuring the safety of students at all times.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and program records.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable NYS DMV regulations and district policies.
• Collaborate with program staff and guest speakers, as appropriate.
• Demonstrate strong organization, communication, classroom management, and time management skills.

Qualifications

• Valid MV-283 Driver and Traffic Safety Education Instructor Certificate (required)
• Valid New York State Teaching Certificate (required)
• Valid New York State driver's license with a clean driving record and a minimum of 10 years of licensed driving experience
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Previous Driver Education teaching experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal, instructional, and communication skills
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment

Schedule

This is a per diem position that follows the Driver Education Program schedule:

• Fall Semester: 16-week program
• Spring Semester: 16-week program
• Summer: 6-week program

During the school year, both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction are conducted after regular school hours. The summer program is held during the morning hours.

Teaching Assistant Tier I – High School

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-focused Teaching Assistant to provide support for students at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School.

The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers and other support staff to help meet the individual academic, behavioral, social, and physical needs of the assigned student while fostering independence and promoting a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist students with classroom activities, organization, and instructional tasks.
• Support the implementation of instructional, behavioral, and accommodation plans as directed.
• Encourage positive social interactions and student independence.
• Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers, related service providers, and administrators.
• Assist with supervision during transitions, lunch, and other school activities as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Qualifications:

• New York State Teaching Assistant certification or the ability to obtain certification.

Speech-Language Pathologist, Year-Long Leave

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Speech Language Pathologist to join our special education team, serving students at the high school level. The successful candidate will provide speech and language therapy services, evaluate student needs, and work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to support student success.

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group speech-language therapy to students in accordance with IEP goals.
• Conduct evaluations and assessments of speech, language, and communication skills.
• Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to student needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support communication development across settings.
• Maintain accurate and timely records, progress notes, and reports.
• Participate in CSE meetings and contribute to IEP development.

Qualifications:

• NYS Certification as a Speech and Language Disabilities (SLD) Teacher or Speech-Language Pathologist required.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred:

• Experience in school-based settings and familiarity with IEP development
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices for articulation, language, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and working with students with Autism.
• Licensure with ASHA CCC-SLP
