Speech Therapist- ESY Summer

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a culturally responsive, passionate and dedicated Speech Therapist to join our team for our Extended School Year-Summer Program. Candidates must possess an appropriate NYS certification. 

The dates of ESY are July 2- August 12  (No school on 7/4 for the Independence Day Holiday.)
We will also have 1 "work day" prior to ESY beginning in order to set up your learning space and plan.

Student hours are 8:15am-11:15am and teacher/related services hours are 8:00am-12:00pm.

Assistant Coach - Girls Varsity Swimming

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Coach to lead our Girls Varsity Swimming Team for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and a commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement training programs that enhance athletic performance.
  • Organize and lead practices, games, and competitions.
  • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
  • Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and staff about team progress and expectations.
  • Analyze player performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote a cohesive athletic program.

Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience in swimming at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
  • Strong knowledge of track rules and strategies.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire athletes of varying skill levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Candidates must hold a valid NYS Teaching certificate, NYS coaching certificate, or be willing to obtain one.

Cleaner - High School (2nd Shift)

Cleaner - 2nd shift 

Work Hours: 3:00pm-11:00pm (8 hours/day)

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a reliable and hardworking 2nd Shift Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness and safety of school facilities. This position plays a key role in ensuring that classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas are clean, sanitary, and ready for daily use by students and staff. 

Civil Service Job Description

Classification: Non-Competitive

This is routine work requiring the efficient performance of a variety of cleaning tasks. The work involves execution of these tasks through a well established routine. Direct supervision is received from a higher level supervisor. The incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities

  • Dusts chairs, tables desks and other furniture;
  • Washes windows, walls, woodwork, toilets and sinks;
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums and waxes floors with various equipment designed for those purposes;
  • Gathers and disposes of refuse;
  • Cleans and polishes furniture;
  • Performs a variety of routine errands and cleaning tasks;
  • Performs a variety of related duties as required;
  • May use a district motor vehicle as assigned.

When Assigned to a School District

  • May clean blackboards and erasers;
  • May monitor rest rooms and report violations of non-smoking policy;
  • May use a district motor vehicle as assigned.

Full performance knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics: Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment; ability to follow oral and written direction; ability to get along well with others; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from High School or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma; OR
  • Three months of building cleaning experience; OR
  • Successful completion of a job training or job readiness program.

Special Requirements

A valid New York State Driver’s License may be required, at the discretion of the appointing authority.

Security Montor - High School

Security Monitor - High School

Work Hours: 6:00am-2:00pm (7.5 hours/day)

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a vigilant, dependable, and student-focused School Security Monitor to help maintain a safe and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Security Monitor will work in collaboration with school administrators and staff to ensure that safety protocols are followed and incidents are addressed promptly and appropriately.

Civil Service Description:

Classification: Competitive 

This position exists in a school district and involves responsibility to patrol the halls, corridors, lavatories, buildings, and groups to protect persons, property and enforce school rules. This position is intended to provide maximum security of persons and property while improving the atmosphere for the conduct of the program of studies at City schools. The work involves responsibility for ensuring the safety of students and staff, maintaining order, protecting school property and enforcing school rules and regulations. The work also involves establishing rapport with students in order to assist them with their problems or refer them to someone on the professional staff who can help. The work is performed under the general direction of the School Principal with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying out assignments. The incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities

  • Patrols school halls, stairwells, restrooms, courtyards, entrances, parking lots and other parts of school buildings and grounds to protect persons and property, maintain order and ensure compliance with school rules;
  • Questions persons on school premises who are not student or staff and advice as to school rules and either directs visitors to school offices or asks them to leave;
  • Reports periodically to principal on problems, incidents and conditions affecting security, either orally or in writing;
  • Interacts and develops rapport with students in order to act as a sounding board for students so they can have someone to talk to about their school or personal problems and either assists them or refers them to someone who can help them;
  • Advises parents, teachers, counselors or principal about potential or actual student problems concerning class-cutting, truancy, disciplinary problems or other school or personal problems;
  • May supervise the loading of buses and follows buses along their assigned routes or on field trips to make sure no discipline problems develop;
  • May work in a detention class or “time out” room calming down students and conferring with them as to the importance of remaining in school and of maintaining proper school behavior;
  • Checks student attendance by verifying daily records against teacher attendance records, records absences or class cuts, notes late students, verifies absence notes why student is absent and contacts parent as to problem;
  • Participates in the development and implementation of district security plans;
  • Acts as liaison with local and state police agencies as requested by building principal;
  • May answer requests from parents, probation officers and counselors regarding attendance and, in essence, acts as a liaison between home and school.
  • May act as a contact with the outside community for the benefit of the students to help them get jobs or into programs and assists in arranging for community based school activities such as field trips.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in youth service work, recreation, education, or any other activity involving service to or activities with youth, AND
  • five years of experience as a Municipal, State, or Military Police Officer and/or NYS licensed Security Guard.
